2010 Commonwealth Games

Ola Melzig was the Technical Director for Ceremonies, and brought Tarmo Krimm as Vice Technical Director and Joan Lyman as Director Assistant. We teamed up with Associate Technical Director Andrew Garrod, Technical Operations Manager Sarah Grubb and Technical Event Consultant Richard Hartman.

The opening ceremony took place October 3 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the closing ceremony was October 14.

The show was an enormous success with hundreds of millions of TV viewers and 55 000 people in the stadium.

Build up for the show began on August 15, but the planning for it has been going on for 4 years.

We had a mass cast of almost 8 000 people in the opening ceremony.

Jerry Appelt was the lighting designer, Scott Willsallen the sound designer and Edward Ailing was camera director.

Viraf Sarkari was Executive Producer and Ajay Rao was Project Manager.

The entire show and games were produced by the 2010 Delhi Organizing Committee with Shovana Narayan being the Special Director General for Ceremonies.

The aerostat was provided by K-Events in cooperation with Robbie Williams Productions.

PRG supplied all lighting for the show.

Creative Technology supplied all video for the show.

Norwest Productions supplied all PA and Monitor together with local company Sound.com

The Scottish Hand Over segment. By many rated as the best part of the closing.........

Riedel supplied all intercom, that was designed and managed by Best Audio.

All local production was done by Wizcraft International.

Howard and Son's supplied all pyro together with local company Amir Morani Fireworks.
